How to Find a Yoda of Dance

This article gives some great advice on what to take into consideration when looking for a dance teacher. Ceech has been in the Bay Area street dance scene for over 15 years; winning countless competitions in groups such as Mindtricks and DS Players while training / mentoring many funk stylists and hip hop dancers along the way.

Below is a small excerpt from the blog:

Before trying to ask the question of how to I find a good dance teacher, ask yourself what kind of a student you want to be first. Do you want to learn a routine? If there is a specific routine that you want to learn, then seek out the teacher that has mastered that routine and mastered teaching that routine. In specific cases such as performing for a specific show, and your dance team is performing a specific routine, you will need to drill the routine many times. If you are a person starting out your dance journey, this is one option to start. You can learn by copying a specific set of choreographed moves, memorize it and make your body move to this sequence of counts. This would be the analogy of feeding yourself for a day. This one specific set of moves is the fish that will feed you for the day.
Maybe you want to learn to feed yourself for a lifetime. You must learn from a teacher that will teach more than just specific choreographed moves. You will need to learn the tools to create your own dance. These tools are the fundamentals of dance.
