Old School Hip-Hop: w/ Dennis Infante at City Dance SF

Description:
A fun class that focuses on various party dances of that era, like The Running man, Roger Rabbit, Reebok, The Guess, etc. Learn fundamentals, variations, and a little choreography while dancing to music ranging from old school hip-hop, new jack swing, and 90s R&B. Emphasis on the groove, and great for cardio.

Dennis is a member of GroovMekanex, and The MuthaFunkers. He remains active in the dance community by participating in many aspects of the scene whether itโ€™s on stage, in cyphers/battles, or DJing at various events. Check out his site at www.soulo1200s.com

  2. This is easily my all-time favorite class! I've been taking Old School Hip Hop for about a year now, and I've learned tons of old school party dance steps, as well as plenty of history and concepts. Being an 80's/90's kid, the music and dance moves are reminiscent of my MTV's The Grind, Yo! MTV Raps, CMC, and more haha.

Dennis Infante's goofy/comedic energy is infectious, and class is always more of a dance party than strict instruction. He's more than happy to break down steps if you're having trouble, and I appreciate that he wholeheartedly shares all his knowledge when it comes to dance. From my experience, his only concern is that you understand the fundamental groove, because the moves can always be taught/changed later.

The vibe of all the class goers is also awesome. The skill levels are across the board, from newbie to advanced, and everyone is there to have fun. I've yet to feel judged or get self-conscious in his class. It's definitely my post-work midweek dance relief to get me to the weekend!

  3. This is an amazing class you don’t want to miss. Dennis is an extremely knowledgeable teacher, and he’s more than willing to help you with steps and variations.

It’s also a great cardio workout, and the crowd is always fun and supportive. I would definitely recommend it to people of all skill levels, because the biggest element of the class is to enjoy yourself.

Hope to see you guys there!
