FAQ

You may be unfamiliar with our new site layout so here is our FAQ section.

Everything looks different! What’s new in this latest version?
Well for starters, the site is now mostly about dance. We’ve brought back all the features from our very first site.

These include:
-Event Calendar: Listing of upcoming shows, battles, dancer club events.
-Event Recap: Post/Read comments on past dance events.
-Class/Session spots: Calendar listing of recommended classes and find other spots to practice.
-Class Review: Find local dance class info and descriptions here. Read other people’s feedback on dance classes.
-Dance History: Learn about all the different Street Dance Styles out there. A good “intro” or starting point for those interested in learning about different street dance styles. (Ongoing research, but just sharing what we’re learning as well)
-Video Clips and Photo Gallery: View some photos from events, as well as dance clips around the world.
-Archives: YES! You asked for it, and now we’ve brought back all our old dance interviews and articles. These include interviews with Buddha Stretch, SuperDave, Demonz of the Mind, Boogaloo Shrimp, Crazy Legs, The Jabbawockeez (pre-ABDC) and more! We’ve got lots of classics dating all the way back to 2004.

Is there a way we can be informed whenever you have new posts?
We wanted to make this as annoying as possible and force you to come back just to check for new posts lol. JUST KIDDING. Of course you can be notified of new posts! We have an RSS link where you can grab from our Feed or you can also subscribe to our mailing list. We also have a twitter account and you can follow our crazy antics @onecypher.

How can I be a writer for your site?
We are still experimenting with this new site layout and are smoke testing everything to see what is the most efficient way to accept blog posts from external writers. The main thing we are trying to control here are spammers! We don’t want random spammers clogging up all the posts, so we’ll keep you posted. If you really want to submit something, you can email it to you us here.

Where do you guys get your information for the Dance History Category?
We are constantly researching to learn more about the origins of each style and each scene. We think this section will help enlighten everyone about each other’s dance, and hopefully open a few minds (especially ours). We hope you find our recommendations on additional resources useful for your own research. If you have some contributions for this section or have some corrections you would like to add, feel free to contact us.

The information we get is gathered in many different ways. From talking to dancers who grew up that time, to interviewing OG dancers, readings, documentaries, asking many questions and getting many different answers. The History Section is pretty much just our own research blog. There will always be additions and corrections, and I think it will be a long time before anything is finalized. In this growing technology age, there are so many resources that can be reached. The point here is to just share and promote THESE DANCES. Hopefully this section will help spark something that will deepen your appreciation for these dance styles, it’s pioneers, and it’s new generation of dancers who strive to keep them alive!
